The 6th Tank Army had remarkable success on the first day of the Soviet drive into Romania. They drove straight south until running into stiff resistance at the third line of the German defenses at Mare Ridge. This spur of the Carpathian Mountains ran right across 6th Tank Army's line of advance, and was manned by elements of Romanian mountain brigades and part of the German 76th Infantry Division. On the second day of the offensive, 20th Guards Tank Brigade was sent in to try to turn the flanks of the German position.
Objectives: From the jump off point on the enemy's right flank, your company will move roughly north northwest, destroying all enemy strongpoints encountered. Each platoon of the company has a separate path to follow, but all will attempt to converge on the objective. Your platoon will move out to the north, then west, and finally wheel to the southwest. Achieving the objective will deny a vital path of retreat to the enemy. Our flank position gives us the chance to inflict maximum damage, so empty your guns as you make your way to the objective!
